Hi, I’m Tal Davidson. I develop quantitative investing strategies which are based on deep academic research.
I am not the ordinary finance guy. I am more of a technology geek, working as a computer engineer in one of the largest tech companies in the world. I feel lucky to have been contributing to some of the coolest innovations in wireless and computing technology.
You see, since I received my first paycheck, I looked for ways to compound my money at the highest rate possible with acceptable risk. I wasn’t willing to compromise on average mutual funds or market following ETFs. I had to find what works best and understand why.
That triggered 15 years (to date) of learning and experimenting with various investment strategies. You can read more about my path in investing here (to be added soon).
In the last few years, I have perfected a few quant strategies. I eventually made the transition to being 100% quant. I eat my own cooking, and now invest most of my life savings according to the strategies I developed.
Up until recently, I was not planning on monetizing my strategies beyond using them for my personal investments. I was writing and speaking about them merely for the fun of it and the intellectual stimuli.
But then life took an interesting course – Investment professionals got interested. So I started advising an Israeli mutual fund for a while, and I also partnered with an Israeli money manager who invests his client’s capital based on these quant strategies. My friends and fellow investors tell me that my strategies have some merit and I should use them to help people maximize their investment results, and achieve their financial goals confidently.
I’m building this website with that purpose in mind.
I live a life of joy and creation. I love technology. And I love beating the market. I enjoy music, photography, and reading. Most of all, I love my wife Noa and my three adorable kids Shahar (Hebrew for the first ray of morning light), Uri (after a song by the poet Rachel), and Libby (Hebrew for my heart).
About this website
TalDavidson.com is a website in the making. It used to focus on the works of Walter Schloss, one of the greatest investors of the 20th century. It is now gradually evolving into a site focused on quantitative value and momentum investing.
I will guide you in creating your own quantitative portfolio, even if you’re not a programmer. I will support you in gaining confidence in quant strategies to help you grow your capital and achieve life-changing returns.
Savvy investors know that investing isn’t a game where the guy with 180 IQ beats the guy with 160 IQ. But it’s a game where the ability to consistently make sound rational decisions gives an edge. And who (or what) is capable of making sound rationale decisions time and time again other than a computer running carefully crafted algorithms?
Here are a few things I am adding:
- “Quantitative Value” stock screen, allowing one to create portfolios inspired by Carlisle and Grey’s book “Quantitative Value” (with a few tweaks and improvements)
- “Deep Value” stock screen, inspired by Tobias Carlisle’s “Deep Value” book and his website acquirersmultiple.com
- “Quantitative Momentum” screen
- Backtesting results and statistical analysis for portfolios created using the screens above
- Manuals and guides on how to build and maintain quantitative investment portfolios, with minimized transaction costs and tax liability.
